This will likely upset a few of you but I cannot in good conscience remain silent. In this past week millions have gathered to make a lot of noise across the nation. On one hand this is great because it shows that our society is capable of organizing... on the other hand it brutally displays how shallow our populace is.
Food pantries are running on empty for lack of donations whilst the numbers of families in need increase, homeless are still on the streets, veterans are still taking their own lives at a frightening rate, substance abuse is astronomically high, and so many people are working two or more jobs just to scrape by and survive.
All of this goes on in plain sight yet so few actually do anything to help which is what aggravates the hell out of me. It is fantastic that so many participated yesterday, it really is... but I guarantee all of them obliviously drove past people struggling enroute to and from the rallies.
If you really want to make a lasting impact please stop being blind to what is occurring right in your home towns, stop ignoring those in need, volunteer and get involved with local organizations or at least donate some spare change to them if your life is too busy to set aside a few hours each week. Make a real difference... not just noise.
